Fit talk:
Jonas Vingegaard

The Fizik Saddle Guide

Finding the right saddle fit is important for every cyclist. For those competing at the highest levels of the sport, however— like Danish road pro Jonas Vingegaard of Team Visma | Lease a Bike—it’s critical. Dive into our interview to learn how Jonas maintains an optimized set-up as well as how he continues to comfortably navigate the competition aboard his Antares en route to big wins in the Tour de France and beyond.

FIZIK What’s your favorite race/event? Any project/plan for the future?

JV For sure the Tour de France, because it's a race that suits me best. It's the most prestigious race on the calendar, and I'm very happy that I've won it twice already, and hopefully I can add more victories in the future.

FIZIK Can you share with us an anecdote related to your career as a cyclist?

JV What can I say? A nice anecdote is that, before the 2021 Tour de France, I never imagined I’d make it to the podium. Just a few years earlier, I was working part-time in a fish factory and training for the rest of the day. I could only take time off to compete in races. Now, being here with four podium finishes—two victories and two second places since then—feels simply incredible.

“I'm feeling comfortable with the Antares 00 saddle—it's the one that has been with me through my most prestigious victories in recent years.”

FIZIK Which is the saddle you’re currently using?

JV I'm feeling comfortable with the Antares 00 saddle—it's the one that has been with me through my most prestigious victories in recent years.

FIZIK Have you tried different paddings (foam, 3d, eva) and how did you choose yours?

JV In our team, we test extensively to achieve the most optimal setup. After numerous trials, I’ve found that the EVA padding suits me best, offering stiffness and lightness.

FIZIK Did you get support from a bike fitter? How often do you reconfirm or update your position/fit on the bike?

JV Once a year, we have a bike fitting session, and we always try to see if there's any way to optimize my position and fit on the bike. Throughout the season, I then try not to change too much, only if it's a proven benefit for me.
