FIZIK What’s your favorite race/event? Any project/plan for the future?

KM In general, the Gravel Earth Series is my highlight of the year. Starting with winning The Traka 360 in Girona, the heart of cycling. Then, riding through The Rift’s volcanic landscape—if you ever wonder what riding on the moon feels like, just go to Iceland. Finishing the year with a win back in Spain at Ranxo, with its flats, hills, and endless gravel roads. The Series is unique, providing events that guide you to incredible destinations and are organized by amazing people. It’s not just about the places but also the people—organizers, riders, friends, and locals that you meet and share the experience with.

I have many races and bikepacking destinations in mind. There are so many more places to explore by bike, like South America and Asia.

In Europe, we have so many beautiful spots, it’s hard to decide. Badlands, for example, is truly unique. I’ve been to many places in Spain, but this one stands out. I won’t do it as a race, but if my calendar allows, I’d love to go for a bikepacking trip there next year.

FIZIK Can you share with us an anecdote related to your career as a cyclist?

KM In fact, I wasn’t looking to return to racing almost full-time—it chose me. I did a couple of races last year just for fun, and PAS Racing contacted me with an offer to race with them. Initially, it wasn’t supposed to be as big as it is now. I thought I would do just a few races in Europe, but we ended up traveling across the globe, participating in some of the most famous gravel races in the world, and having a lot of fun and success doing it. You never know what life can bring you.

FIZIK Which is the saddle you’re currently using? And how did you choose it?

KM I’m using the Vento Argo on both my gravel and road bikes. I looked for something comfortable and stable for long rides and races. I have never had any issues, even during 10-hour races in high temperatures.

FIZIK Have you tried different paddings (foam, 3d, eva) and how did you choose yours?

KM I tried EVA, which is really good and light. However, the 3D-printed padding that I currently use feels like it’s custom-made for me.

FIZIK Did you get support from a bike fitter? How often do you reconfirm or update your position/fit on the bike?

KM I did a bike fit back when I was racing on the road. Initially, I didn’t take gravel seriously and just adjusted it myself. I changed a few things after the first few rides and then stuck with it. I reconfigure my fit every time I get a new bike. Next year, I will definitely do a bike fit, mainly for the aero advantages.
